The Church of God 14 Articles of Faith
The following is a summary of its official declaration.
The Trinity
One eternal God exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Jesus Christ
Jesus is God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of Mary, a virgin. He was crucified, buried, resurrected and ascended to heaven, where He intercedes beside the Father.
Repentance
Everyone has sinned. God requires repentance for forgiveness.
Salvation
Justification, regeneration and new birth come through faith in Christ’s blood.
Sanctification
Following new birth, sanctification comes through faith in Christ’s blood, Scripture and the Holy Ghost.
Holiness
God requires His people to live holy lives.
Holy Ghost baptism
This follows the cleansing of the heart.
Speaking in tongues
Spirit-given tongues provide the initial evidence of Holy Ghost baptism.
Water baptism
Repentant believers should undergo immersion in the name of Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Divine healing
Christ’s atonement provides healing for everyone.
Communion and foot washing
Observing the Lord’s Supper and washing believers’ feet.
Christ’s return
Jesus will raise deceased believers, gather living saints and subsequently reign on earth for 1,000 years.
Resurrection and eternity
Bodily resurrection, everlasting life for the righteous and everlasting punishment for the wicked.
